Robc, according to your flag, u are from Italy. may I ask where is Kuno from, because the flag u show is the Libyan flag. I am from Malta but work in Libya. This is why I am asking.
Thanks

I have been reading the Malta thread with interest. Some comments regarding more recent posts: there is no Savoia Marchetti aeroplane on display at the National War Museum (Valletta) or at the Aviation Museum (Ta' Qali). The only 'Savoia Marchetti' I am aware of is a wreck in the shallows at Gnejna Bay. This is considered locally to be either an S.79 or S.81 or a CANT.-Z.506B. In my opinion what is visible on the sandy seabed looks more like a CANT.-Z.501 and is probably a pre-war aircraft. With regard to the 1975 After the Battle publication No. 10: Malta G.C., this has been reprinted and is available from the publisher. A more recent article with the focus on the air battle of Malta appears in After the Battle No. 108.

Finally.
I managed to visit the Avtation Museum at Ta'Qali today and can confirm...
...no S.79 and no other Italian A/C are on display there.
