Final Retreat in Libya

Beitragvon Kuno » 11/10/2008, 13:48

Colleagues;

Whilst the advances of the Afrikakorps and the famous battles are all well described in the literature, not much is to be found about the final retreat after el-Alamein through Libya to Tunisia.

Whilst some say that it was more or less an uncontrolled flight, others opinion is that it was a skillfull retreat. However; it shall not be the actual subject of this thread to discuss "what if" etc. I would be more interested in the few known facts. Actually I am looking for information out of books, diaries etc, mainly dealing with the days of the end of December 1942 until the capture of Tripolis. The -not so famous- "Khoms Tarhunah Line" would be my focus here. But I am also grateful for all other information "around" this defense position...

That's a quite general text, Silvano. I would look for more detailed reports.

Hallo Kuno,

I have a lot of infos on the retreat from El Alamein to Mareth Line.

I am writing an article for french magazine on it (planned next year).
