605 Panzer Jager

Beitragvon afrika.90light » 28/9/2006, 18:23

I hope this is the right place for this one.
I am researching the 605 Pazer Jager Abt. I understand they had a captured tank plt. of some sort. This was made up of Mark III 749(e) Inf. Tanks (Valentines) & Mark V 746(e) Cruiser Tanks. Does anyone have any info on this or anything pertaining to this unit. I have the picture from geocities,605th.jpg and the only thing close is in the Batt. HQ & Battery Hq. and they appear to be turretless. If anyone has the TO&E for this outfit that would be a great help too.
Thanks in advance.

William.

I have never heard of the captured tanks being used by PzJag 605. However, this does not mean that it did not happen!

For what date do you require a T.o.& E?
Cheers: Dave.

Hi Dave,
Thanks for the reply. I am modeling the 605th for Flames of War. I use the Dianas but am interested in this unit as it is the core unit for my force. Anything would be useful.
As for the British tanks. In a book Captured American & British Tanks by Werner Regenberg the 605 is mentioned twice as having British tanks as mentioned in my previous. The book doesn't have any biography though so I don't have any original sources. This may require some further research. I like to model my units correctly. And this drives my opponents nuts when other then German gear shows up.
So anything You can provide will be of great help in my efforts. I'm sure that with all the captured gear that Rommels forces borrowed from their foes that this could be fact, it's just a matter of proof. I use Honeys and they where captured a lot.
Again thanks for Your Response and I look forward to hearing from you.
Happy Trails

Hi David,
Thanks for your reply. This is the second time I've tried to answer you as the first one (Tuesday) went away and I don't know why. One of the bugs of the computer world I guess.
Anyway, if that PzSf II is what I think it is, then now I know where they went to. I've thought about scratch building them too, if I can ever find out enough about them. I have two fuzzy pictures to work with from a german tank encyclopedia and believe their was only 2 built. This vehicle will require a lot more research.
Could you please give me your source for my records.
Thanks again. Happy Trails.

Source for PzSfII sounds like the same book as you've got.

Source for rest of T.o&E is a lifetimes (almost anyway) hobby.
Cheers: Dave.

Would you share that info as I like to personalize my models with real figures. Even though I am modeling 3 co. (Dianas) one day I plan to add other parts of this unit as it is the core of my gaming army.
Happy trails.

I am looking for any info on the PZ Sf II Auf F m Zugk 5t. I have the 2 pictures from Encyclopedia of German tanks. I'd like to scratch build this but those 2 pictures don't give enough detail. Any help out there would be great.

I have e-mailed this question to someone who may be able to help you.

He has suggested the following book.

Panzer Tracts Special 'Rommel's Funnies'.

Hope this is of some help.
Cheers: Dave.

Hi David
I have to order that as my Librarian searched nation wide and could not find it and my bookdealer couldn't order from his soarces. I think I can order through Aberdeen book store. I'll check that when I'm done here. Thanks for that info. And thanks to your friend.

Hi Kuno
I wish I could post that but don't have that ability as I use the computer at my Library. The book is Encyclopedia of German Tanks by Chamberlain. I believe this is correct but I'll double check.

I'm still looking for info on captured tanks in the 90th as mentioned in earlier posts.
A good day to all.
