Back from Tripoli. I was very fortunate and could do several "then & now" photographs - some of relevance for the book :D

…just a brief update of what has happened in the last weeks and months:

Since it was possible for me to travel again to Libya, I took the occasion to get some “then & now” photos at Gialo and to search (and positively identify) the villa where Almasy and his commando were accommodated in Tripoli. The manuscript is nearly completed now – Dr. Rudolph Kuper of the ‘Heinrich Barth Institute’ in Cologne provided an introduction and during the last weekend, me Andras and Michael spent an extensive weekend together to settle nearly all the remaining open issues. Now we have to finalize the manuscript, apply the last corrections before it will undergo a serious proofreading. The next steps are the drawing of the route maps and the works on the illustrative elements, including the identification of the persons and the vehicles on the more than 100 original photographs. We positively expect to have the book published some when in September this year and hope that it will find many interested readers then.

Some of you may wonder why I am asking so many "Identifications" these days...
The reason is tht I am developping the captions to more than 100 original photos we have from "Operation Salam". In this course I want to identify as much as possible persons, vehicles and equipment.

Many thanks for your help!

We are busy now with the last corrections.
The layout is planned to be completed during this week.
From then on (the publisher says) it needs about five weeks to have the book printed & available.

It will end up at about 420 pages..
